Артефакт из 70-х - лондонская рок-группа Гленко (непонятно только: почему лондонцы взяли себе название шотландской деревушки? - но теперь, думаю, на этот вопорс уже не ответит никто).
Играют такой притяжеленный психоделик-рок/хард-поп, без излишеств и в 5-минутном сингловом формате.
По характеру музыки, скорее, напоминают американских рокеров тех времен - такой полу-кантри, полу-фолк психоделик-рок. К сожалению, при том, что группа очень неплохо играет, полное отсутствие оригинальности приводит к тому, что мне/нам они постоянно кого-то напоминают. А уж то, что в своём самом популярном сингле они откровенно упёерли у Неназываемых главный музыкальный ход из "Эй, бульдог!" - это уже просто за гранью (странно, что их не засудили). Они вообще на них ссылаются часто - видимо в детстве головой об Битлз приложились крепко.
Так или иначе - пластинки редкие, не напрягают абсолютно, на бекграунде слушать вполне можно, можно также подпевать и притоптывать.

A London-based short-lived unit GLENCOE were founded in 1972 by John TURNBULL (guitars, voices), Norman Watt-ROY (bass, voices), Graham MAITLAND (keyboards, voices), and Stewart FRANCIS (drums, percussion). They all have got inspired by American rock roots, Soul, or Rhythm & Blues. Via Epic Records, their debut eponymous album was released in 1972, and the second one "The Spirit Of Glencoe" in the following year. After disbandment, their musical 'spirit' was taken over another project named LOVING AWARENESS.

First of all, let's have it straight: this really good band (hailing from the early seventies in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) is no progressive wonder, at all.
With that clear in mind, the album we have here (their first) is a fine occasion for enjoying ourselves with the solid sound of this classic rock outfit, anyway. To achieve some idea of what they might sound like, think that they shared concerts with Stray and that coupling wasn't arbitrary. Some ingredient of Funk has been pointed out as well, but the most relevant to my ears results to be the fine vocal harmonies, the nice acoustic touches, and the well crafted compositions.
According to fans, the opener "Airport" was the hot spot of their live duty back then.

British progressive rock band, early 1970s. Glencoe was one of those bands people tend to overlook, which is a pity since they have a surplus of significant music to offer.
The second and final album from this British prog band originally appeared in August 1973. Glencoe should have been a great success, gigging extensively their live act was superb, quite heavy and very loud! An effective mixing of speed, power and melody that sits very comfortably together. Graham Maitland's piano work sets a driving air to their music that is truly enjoyable. With the added rhythm of Norman Watt-Roy on bass and Stewart Francis on drums, the group's sound is filled to capacity. They disbanded in February 1974 and in March 1974 a third Glencoe LP was made with a different line up and name as “Loving Awareness”.
